| Summary: | Tests and inspects products at various stages of production process and compiles and evaluates data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products. |
Job Functions:
- Selects products for tests at specified stages in production process, and tests products for variety of qualities, such as dimensions, performance, and mechanical, electrical, or chemical characteristics.
- Records test data per inspection plans, applying statistical quality control procedures if appropriate.
- Evaluates data and writes reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
- Recommend modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.
- Maintains and reviews inspection data in SPC software. Analyzes capability and determines appropriate actions for deviant conditions.
- Set up and perform destructive and nondestructive tests on materials, parts, or products to measure performance, life, or material characteristics per blueprint and/or customer specific requirements.
- Prepare graphs or charts of data or enter data into computer for SPC analysis.
- Performs in-process inspection and first-piece approval of parts utilizing OGP, Keyence, CMM, comparator and /or hand instruments, gages and fixtures.
- Set up and run CMM, Keyence and OGP programs on new launches, existing production, prototypes, tooling and other items as directed.
- Accurately interprets blueprints including all GD&T symbols and utilizes information when inspecting parts.
- Perform raw materials and outside services inspection including physical verification of dimensions and gages.
- Review of all specific documents, standards and clauses indicated on the purchase order.
:Job Requirements
- Requires a High School diploma.
- Working knowledge of Word, Excel, email, and familiarity with manufacturing ERP systems.
- Be able to work overtime after the regular shift for additional inspection coverage if requested.
- Reading, writing and math skills at a high school level.
- Ability to interact with other team members to communicate product or program feedback, information and issues.
- Near acuity and accommodation are required for reading machine dial gauges, blueprints, and precision measuring instruments used in the inspection of parts.
- Understanding and applications of GD&T from drawings and/or customer specifications.
Working Conditions: the employee is subject to:
- High noise levels from operating machines.
- Physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts.
- Breathing fumes, dust and mist.
- Skin exposure to oils and cutting fluid.
- Required to stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to the floor.
- Required to exert up to 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
