Electrical Maintenance Leadership
Lead, supervise, and coordinate the daily activities of the electrical maintenance team, including electricians and technicians, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality work execution.
Provide technical guidance and support for electrical troubleshooting and repairs while directing team members in resolving equipment issues.
Partner with the site Controls Engineer/Controller for complex PLC, automation, and control system diagnostics or programming changes.
Serve as the primary point of coordination between maintenance, production, engineering, and management for electrical maintenance activities.
Ensure all electrical work is performed in compliance with NFPA 70 National Electrical Code, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations, and company safety policies.
Promote and enforce safe work practices, lockout/tagout procedures, and electrical safety standards within the maintenance team.
Maintenance Planning & Reliability
Plan, prioritize, and schedule electrical maintenance work orders through the CMMS system to support production needs and minimize downtime.
Oversee execution of preventive and predictive maintenance programs for plant electrical systems and automation equipment.
Coordinate troubleshooting and repair activities for electrical systems including motors, motor controls, VFDs, sensors, HMIs, and plant automation equipment.
Lead root cause investigations for electrical failures and equipment downtime and implement corrective actions to improve reliability.
Oversee maintenance of site utilities including:
Electrical distribution systems
Compressed air systems
Natural gas systems
Plant water systems
Fire protection systems
Facility security systems
Capital Projects & Continuous Improvement
Support capital projects by coordinating electrical installation activities, contractors, and internal resources.
Work closely with engineering and the Controls Engineer/Controller to support equipment upgrades, automation improvements, and facility modifications.
Assist in development and tracking of Capital Authorization Approval Requests (CAARs) for electrical and facility improvements.
Ensure electrical aspects of projects are executed safely, on schedule, and within budget while minimizing production disruptions.
Identify opportunities for equipment reliability improvements, cost reduction, and process efficiency.
Documentation & Procurement
Ensure electrical schematics, maintenance documentation, and equipment records remain accurate and up to date.
Review and maintain electrical spare parts inventory and ensure availability of critical components.
Coordinate purchasing of electrical parts, services, and contractor support in alignment with budget guidelines.
Support annual inspections, certifications, and audits related to plant electrical systems and utilities.
People Development & Communication
Train, mentor, and evaluate electricians and electrical maintenance personnel to strengthen technical capability and team performance.
Provide clear direction, performance feedback, and development opportunities for maintenance staff.
Communicate equipment status, maintenance priorities, and project updates with production leadership and plant management.
Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement within the maintenance department.
Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned by the Maintenance Manager.
Qualifications
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field preferred; equivalent hands-on industrial experience will be considered.
Minimum 5 years of electrical maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
Previous supervisory, lead technician, or team leadership experience strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems including motor controls, power distribution, and VFDs.
Working knowledge of PLC-based control systems and automation equipment; ability to support troubleshooting in coordination with the Controls Engineer/Controller.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, PLC ladder logic, and mechanical drawings (AutoCAD experience a plus).
Experience using CMMS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Demonstrated problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
Ability to work independently while effectively leading a technical team.
